26 years ago, Belgium was terrorised by a criminal gang, who used heavy weaponry and made no distinction between civilan and police.
A total of 28 people died, 20 were wounded for live. Some of the death included children who tried to run away. The gang was indiscriminate in their attack.
17 attacks in 3 years time (1982-1985), on restaurants, supermarkets,policestations, arms sellers, ect...
Internal strugle between the diffrent police districts is one of the main reasons the investigation to the gang went completly off the rails.
26 years on and no arrest have been made, no trace found. The statue of limitations on the gangs acts was extended with 5 years in 2007, meaning that if no one is brought to justice before 2012, the perpetrators will go unpunished.
In a last effort to stop this, an appeal has been made to have their acts be made 'crimes against humanity',so that the search can go on until after 2012.
