This morning Ecolo, the Walloon green party, announced that they were considering retracting their support for the agreement on constitutional reform, agreed in september of this year.
Reason is the budget proposal 2012, which was agreed on last Saterday. Neither Ecolo or its Flemish counterpart Groen! (Green!) were involved with the budget talks. But they were with the constituniol reform, where you need a 2/3 majority (the NV-A, the largest political party both in Flanders and in Belgium were put aside in June 2011 cause they were unwilling to give in for a few meagre posts in the new goverment).
After the talks about the constitunional reform were done, Groen and Ecolo were no longer involved in talks to form a new federal goverment.
The reason why Ecolo now threathens to withdraw its support for the constitunional part is that in the budget proposals a lot of green premies and subsidies are eliminated. Also Ecolo has found 8 billion in the budget proposal that has no osurce, meaning that there might be unexpected unpleasant suprises for the population, like shifting of major expenses to either Flanders and Wallonia.
Since everything in the constitional reform was linked to each other (at the request of the Walloons), the entire agreement could be invalidated.

Belgium: Equal rights but not EQUAL rights
Belgium is a hotchpoch of diffrent ethnic groups, most of them coming from every part of the world. Attracted by the 'flexible' social welfare system and the bussness oppotunities the European capital region brings.
In this entire collection 2 groups stand out: the Flemish and the Walloons. Both ethnicities are local.
The Flemish live in the north of Belgium, in an area called Flemish and according to the latest cencus there over 6 million Flemish in Flanders. Flanders is a relative young term, the current Flanders consists of the Belgium provinces that were part of the County Flanders and the Duchy of Brabant during the most part of the middle ages. Flemish people speak a language called Flemish which is a form of Dutch, that is suppondly more related to the original Dutch then the language in the Netherlands. The earliest mention of the Flemish can be found in the 10th century AD, between 1831 and 1968 the Flemish had little to no rights in Belgium and were severly exploited by the Walloons during this period.
The Walloons occupy the souther part of Belgium called Wallonia,according to the latests cencus there are 3.6 million people who call them self Walloon of Belgium Francophones.The term Walloon is derived from a late 18th, early 19th century reference to people, in southern part of what is now Belgium, that spoke Waals, a dialect form of French. Between 1831 and 1968 they held most positions of power in Belgium, historic texts even suggest that they wanted to culturaly cleanse Belgium from any Germanic influence a.k.a the Flemish.
After 1968 things changed for the Flemish and they were appointed 'some' attonomy and equal rights. In the 50 years that followed Flanders transformed itself from diapalated poor region to one of the richest in Western-Europe, while Wallonia turned from being among the richest to the poorest region in Western Europe.
In all the ethnic diversions the Belgium goverment decided at the end of the 1980's to create a organisation to delegate and judge cases of racism and ethnic tensions, they called the Center for Equal oppotunities and Racial discriminations.
Now comes the really hurtfull bit, this center has judged that any form of hatred/rascim or discrimination of Flemish person by a Walloon is not a valid reason, while the opposite is.

EvE Online: Crucible launches today
Today is the launch date for the winter expansion 2011 in EvE Online.
Named Crucible, while it doesn't add many new features they've seem to have concentrated in fixing some features that have been bugging us players for years.

Belgium to get new goverment soon, but nitro in a rollercoaster car will be more active
The budget talks are over here in Belgium, and a new budget was proposed, see more details later (as soon as we find out what exactly in it).
One thing for sure is that it contains 1/3 new direct taxes to the population, a bank tax and energy tax on the respective company. (From simelar situations in the past we know that the banks and the energy providers will just raise their prices making the consumer pay).
Their are few 'real' budget cuts, most of them are virtual purely accountancy budget cuts. Where by shifting number from one to another money is 'so-called' saved.
The real budget cuts are then also postponed untill 2016-2018, by the way new federal elections are in 2014 so these cuts could be reversed then.
In a nutshell, while in the rest of Europe the socialist parties are pushed/punished out of goverment, here they get in.Also where the only nation in the OESO zone that raises taxes instead of reforming or doing massive budget cuts.

Should Flanders declare independence if the index goes above 6.5
Short answer YES
The Flemish economy is comparable to that of Germany, while the Walloon economy is as good as the one of Greece. The fact that the Walloon economy is weak is pulling Belgium and Flanders down, even in this dark hours their politicians still haven't gotten this.
They want to further tax and severely tax the Flemish in order to prop up theirs, some even believe the Walloons are now stalling in order to get the IMF step in.But is it fair that they should pull 6 million Flemish down in that fall while the Flemish are doing well.
It is my believe Flemish should declare independence before it happens, this will be better for both Flanders and Wallonia. For the Flemish it would mean saving the economy and for the Walloons it would be the wakeup call they urgently need and are now ignoring.

Nationalism sometimes a necessity.
If anything history taught us, it is that nationalism is a bad thing and those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, while those who do not learn from it correctly are simply doomed.Its the classic dogma we left over from World War II.
Yet, nationalism is back on the rise, why, we should wonder.
First there's something different now, we got nationalist who take the extreme view of isolation, expulsion off all that's foreign and own people first. And we got nationalist who want more 'equal' rights and more autonomy of the main region of the ethnicity that they represent.
The first one should be halted while the second should be listened to.

The internet has dementia
In my line of work I have to regularly lookup stuff in order to progress a project I'm working on.
I'm also regularly confronted with old versions of software, for instance I'm now working with Navision Attain 3.6, which is at least 7 years old.
Well and this is annoying that starting at certain ages information about programs and products start going off the net because they've become obsolete.
Which sucks for people like me who still have to work with them.

Car problems, did I get hit on monday or is it an isolated defect
Today, I noticed that my right break light on my car is no longer working.
I immediately checked all the indicators,all still work only the right break light is no longer working.
So is it a result of the accident on Monday, did I get hit a little bit or is it just the light itself that's broken down on its own.
I'll try to get to the garage to have them look at it, also need to get to the carwash since the back of the car is still covered in shards of glass, a dried up oily substance and pieces of plastic.
No signs of any physical damage to the car though.

Anno 2070: Building an Eco metropolis basic steps
I'm currently playing Anno 2070, and found a building strategy for the Eco's I like to share.
First off when you start a continuous game or one of the side missions as the Eco's you should quickly claim 3 islands.
On your farm island, start up a building materials production, personally I find the following layout the best
for this:
You should also put some tea plantations in, the following layout should work very well:
Note that until you can build more ships you will have to transfer the products manually, well you could set up a trade route with your start ship, but believe me you're going to need it.
Once the islands are settled turn your attention to your city island, place a city centre in the middle, a Eco city centre is 5*8 tiles. Put a road around it, put on the long sides 3*2 houses and make sure there all connected, add another 2*3 block on each side outwards from the city centre. The outer road of this should be roughly 15 tiles away from your city centre, expand this road up and down, and fill the space between this and the central roads with 6 house blocks, do not fill the central open space. You should then place 2 new city centres on this central path, make sure the outer road can be drawn all across and that you have some space left on the side.
The should be three 6-house blocks between city centres, not sure now.
Now for this central park, its the right size for concert halls,place 2 on the central park in a way that they cover most of the houses, some houses will not be covered, this should be near your central city centre. Build a concert hall on the outside of the outer road at the level of the central city centre, and put roads among them.
All your houses should now be able to upgrade to the next level, now you can mirror this after you done the next steps.
Make sure that you have 4-6 fisheries to supply food to the city.
Note this will require a lot of micromanagement though, early on you'll have to ship stuff from your farm island manually in order for your city to grow, you could off course put the building materials on your main untill your on the next level.
A few tips from the next level already:
*You should find that the range of the educational network spans 1/2 of the city grid when build near one of the outer city halls, on the central park with 2 you can cover the entiry city.
*Fill the rest of the gaps with fire stations, with this pattern you can cover the entire city medical with 6 hospitals on the outer road.
*Turn off medical and fire protection and only turn them on in case of disaster, it will save a lot of money, but having them in that arrangement allows you to contain either disaster almost instantaneously.
*Build a trade ship and start a trade route between your main and farm island, you can add stuff or better ships later.

CCP attacking capsuleers :!
Today a CCP fleet in Polaris is preeping to engage someone, who knows why or who
30 seconds between my car and the one that got hit
Yesterday, it was a serious foggy day in Belgium visibility was maybe 50 metres.
I was driving home from the carpool, around 6:15 PM, as I was halfway on the highway I was driving on when I noticed signs on the side of the road. Traffic works expect delays.
I slowed down and at the moment I saw the upcoming traffic jam emerge from the mist, I started breaking and switching on indicators so all 4 flash. Normally these are meant for when you car broke down on the road or you were hit. But down here we allso use the to signal traffic jam to the trafic behind us.
I slowed down and joined the traffic jam, cars behind me didn't slow down and went left and right from me. At the time I was at a exit of the highway, a few moment later a S.U.V. joined the que behind me. I was relieved no longer was I primary at risk of being hit, so I turned my eyes forward from the rear view mirror.
Less then 30 seconds later it happened, I heard the screaming of tires, the sound of metal chrashing. Which was followed by my car jolting forward 10-30 cm. A foul smell imediatlly filled my car (I recognised it as burning rubber), and I both was panicking and crying. My car, my pride and joy, had been hit or so I thought.I immediatly put my car of the highway onto the emergency lane. Then I noticed on the left off me the S.U.V had skimmed by me, a quarter of its backside was gone, on the right of me I saw VW van doing a few 360's before slamming into the guardrail.
Making sure I was on the emergency lane, I got out of my car and quickly checked my car. Miracously my car had no damage, but broken glass of the S.U.V lay all over my roof and even on my hood. One of the taillights of the S.U.V even lay in front of me.
I ran toward the VW van checking the driver, he was unresponsive so I dialed 100 on my cell (100 is our 911), but had to turn it off when I realised that due to the schock I had no idea where I was. I knew the highway number but my mind went completly blank on the exit number or the town it was for.Luckely somebody else had stopped and called them already.
I called my dad to come and get me since I was to spooked to continue, he off course was no help. I tried explaining where I was but he couldn't understand where I was,so after asking permission to leave from the people already on the scene, I drove a few metres backward and exited the highway severly spooked.
It took me another 45 minutes to get home on the slowpoke speed I dared at, at home I was a bit angry at my dad, cause I was panicking and shocked when it all hapened and he expected me to give him a better explanation. The anger didn't last,but last night I couldn't sleep or really relax.
No fog today, but I when I passed the place it happened this morning I became a bit nervous though.

Misfile: Character introduction Ash Upton
Ash is a tomboy who loves racing her Merkur XR4ti.
Hair colour is auburn and her eyes are green,which seems to be a common occurrence red head with green eyes.
She currently holds the title 'King of the mountain',is considered to be Kate's adopted sister.
She had a relationship with Missi Fuller but ended it because Missi was to dominant.
Currently her best friend,and co-Misfile-i, Em(ily) McArthur want to develop their relationship beyond the 'just friends' stage.
Before the Misfile Ash was a boy,with an estranged relationship with his father and no contact with his mother. Still a racer though. He had to adopt to being a girl with all the pro's and con's.

2 for 12: Walloon Unions call national strikes if Di Rupo agrees on any budget cuts

The negotiators are now talking about the budget 2012, which the European Commission wants to see approved by the Belgium federal parliament by December 15 2011.
Problem is out of the 11-13 billion Euro's that have to be found for next year the Walloons are only willing to do 3-4 billion in budget cuts, and the rest in new taxes.
The Flemish oppose this since the Belgium state is huge and can use a lipo, and the new taxes proposed could murder the economy.
Now just, the Walloon trade unions have announced that if Di Rupo dares go over those proposed cuts or even if he keeps these they'll go on national strikes.

EvE Online: Tier 3 Battlecruisers Caldari Naga
Well I went on the test server, and gotten myself all the new battlecruisers to play around with. At the moment however I've only been able to play with the naga.
First odd thing, the naga is as far as I know the first Caldari ship not named after a bird.
The naga has 8 high slots, 6 mid slots and 3 low slots.
The ships has place for 8 turrets and has no launcher hardpoints, it has 3 medium rig slots.
It has no drone bay
Fitting wise, well that's even odder, you can basically fit a drake tank on this boat and a rokh's turret loadout.
But then you'll run out of cap within 2 minutes with that combo.
The requirements to fly her, are a bit low, only battlecruiser III (same level as the drake), but this may change.
So all and all she's a heavy hitter but only if the target is very big or close by, which add to my conclusions that these are meant as anti-(super)capitals

EvE Online: Winter Expansion 2011 named Crucible
Ok the name for the upcoming winter expansion is known, it's Crucible.
This might be another sci-fi reference.
In doctor who, the Crucible was a fortress or ultimate weapon of the gallifreans/time-lords in the time-war versus the daleks. The daleks captured it. It was also seen in the episode 'The Stolen Earth', where it was a dalek super weapon/ fortress that could wipe out everything in all dimensions.
The weapon effect cancels out the electric bond that keeps atoms together, causing these atoms to disintegrate. It's effect was shown in the episode on several human prisoners.

EOData: A small change can lead to big effects
Yesterday, I was not a happy person.
First I had a busy day, with lots of side-quests eh side-jobs,second my market import package that loads in the market prices failed. Having no time to correct it at the time I had to sacrifice my lunch hour to check it.
I first added a dataviewer to the output of the script that collects the data, before it gets processed, and the problem was found easy. The eve markets had decided to start putting the decimal value with median.
Example,Tritanium was 3 isk on Wensday and 3.39 isk on thursday. The failure was in the conversion object that had to convert that into a decimal. It freaked out and so failed the entire package.
So I made the necessary changes and ran the package again, it ran.
But the big surprise was at the end when I checked my results, a 189 million isk had suddenly been created on my ore, and that in a week where I hadn't done much in EvE.
So for me the relative small change the eve markets did had a big effect on me.

Belgium 2 for 12, King called in to thrathen Flemish parties into submission
Still no goverment and still no budget for 2012, despite having a European deadline.
Formator Di Rupo seems neither in a hurry and neither to compensate on the electoral promises the PS made.
Which is making some Flemish politicians believe that Di Rupo would not be a good Prime Minister, since he obviously can't transcend his own parties ideology.
Di Rupo will visit the king Albert II, this afternoon, most likely a royal communication will be given out stating the negotiators should work together and give up their own standpoints for the greater glory of Belgium. Note with this it will be meant that the Flemish parties should accept the Walloon parties proposals without complaining.

EOData: Goons clamping down on Gallente Ice
This morning I read the Market Discussion: Gallente Ice Part 2 on the evenews 24 site, and that made me wonder could I see the results in my database.
So I wrote a quick query to show the historic price evolution on Oxygen Isotopes, the item most targeted by the goons and put into a quick report, the following graph came up:

Directional indicators on cars, USE THEM
In the last century that cars have been around someone had the brilliant idea of putting a light at all 4 outer corners of a car. That would blink at a certain interval when a leaver near the drives was pushed up or pulled down. The way the leaver is moved causes the lights to blink either on the left or right side of the car, this makes it handy to indicate the direction the driver will take the car without him risking a limb.
Growing up in the late 1980's early 1990's, I noticed that a lot of BMW drivers didn't use their indicators (A few years back I even saw a BMW with no indicator lights at all), in the mid-late 1990's more and more German cars drivers didn't bother to use them. And nowadays it seems a lot of people don't even bother.
This put not only themselves but other drivers at risk, so please use your indicators correctly and in the following cases:

EvE Online: One's history in EvE Online
In just a couple of weeks I'll be playing EvE Online for 5 years now, a lot has changed. Both ingame as to myself ingame. Going from doing a 100 trips between a belt and a station mining veldspar in a comerant to make 1 million isk to running an almost daily mining fleet with a professional attitude.
With the website evewho, ones employment records are no longer a secret, yet ones actions to change corp are.
For me the reason to change corps have been the usual and dull, I felt the direction a corp was taking was not the direction I wanted to go.
My story in EvE begins a few weeks before I started playing, I had just switched colleges and had not much contact with my fellow students. I heard some were playing EvE Online, so I decided to start playing to.After some deal making with my parents, didn't have my own credit card then, I started my account.
On Friday15 december 2006 I create my first character 'Resender', a caldari, but soon after a few minutes of playing he didn't feel right, so I scraped him. 24 hours later I created the character I'm still using today, a gallente called 'Resender', after a few shooting rats and doing noob missions I bought my first ship, a gallente Navitas frigate (I still have the ship after all these years), I fitted mining lasers and moved to next door system to start mining plagioclase, which was a/is lot more valuable then veldspar.
I was contacted by some one representing the FTC, and I got in the corp Sunday the 17 of December 2006.
I was a weekend player back then so things went slow for me, after a few weeks I found a system with no rats and barely people in it (now it seems to be filled up with bots and other people), I found 15 jumps an enormous distance.
Things kept this rate for the next 2-3 years, fortunes came and went, I became familiar with EvE and better at mining.
In december 2009 I stood at a cross roads, together with my best friend in game. The FTC wanted to leave the alliance we were in, but we didn't agree we knew that the alliance wanted to move to Pandemic Legion (PL)controlled Fountain.
So me and my friend joined House of Blackstar(HoBs) and we went to Fountain.
However nice songs don't last long, PL was kicked out of Fountain and HoBs drifted, we ended up in a new alliance under systematic chaos(sys-k) in Period Basis. It went fine untill sys-k's was wardeced by C0ven and Stain Empire, plus that due a spy incident we lost blue status to IT Alliance we had lost out supply route through Delve. HoBs decided to pack up and leave, I who had invested much in our stay in Period Basis decided to join those of the alliance that went to sys-k.
6 weeks later and 2 billion isk poorer I arrived tired in empire, sys-k had fallen, mostly due to stupid fleet commanders (FC) who couldn't get their act together. At the time Providence had fallen and the CVA had retreated, the FC in sys-k saw it more important to do roams through providence then to attack C0ven and Stain targets.
I rejoined HoBs and spend 4 months in the wormhole we had claimed, making decent money, but Hobs was flickering and by December 2010 the corp was pretty much in active. Me and my friend rejoined the FTC.
The FTC joined Sev3rance(-7-), which was part of the Northern Coallition (not the NC. version) at the time, when the NC fell, -7- rejoined their old allies CVA and helped reclaiming Providence.
And things went well.
Then suddenly near the end of September 2011, the FTC got an offer to join jagged and make billions in Russian controlled space. I disagreed, especially since the deal sounded shady, my friend agreed to but because he was experiencing health problems he couldn't be online much.
I decided to see what jagged was like, but only after a few minutes I decided to leave,the alliance channel was one constant spew of miscellaneous conversations, mostly selling,buying and fleet order stuff, there seemed to be no social hierarchy.
So I left the FTC, alone, a fe days later the FTC was attacked by allies of -7- in their new home, and the accusations started flowing.
Tired of it all I quit the last chat channels I still shared with FTC members.
So after 5 years you can see how a lot can change.

EvE Online: Isogen keeps flatlinening
For 2 months now the value of Isogen has remained steady, there have been changes but none great enough to have an effect on the graph.

Allways have a recovery of install CD/DVD ready
At this moment our main server at work is experiencing what can be bluntly called a critical system failure.
The machine has been stuck in reboot for several hour now,I mailed the IT departments on where I can find the recovery media but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Another deadline passed, another delay announced. We're now at the point that Belgium won't be able to presend a budget for 2012 by the date Europe set.
The PS(Parti Socialiste), the largest political party in Wallonia,is still clinging on an old Belgium, by saying that the 6-packs and other recomdations the EU proposed are intresting but not righ for Belgium. There also saying that what the EU says are only 'guidelines' and that we should do things like we always done. (How things are looking now at a tax rise of 70 euro per month per person in Belgium)

Anno 1404 (Preping for Anno 2070)
With Anno 2070 coming soon I decided to brush up on my Anno skills, I had most Anno games but had only really played the first game Anno 1604. Got tired of 1404 cause I couldn't get passed the second mission, hadn't spend time continuous game either. Something I'm playing now, a continoius game.
So a few things I didn't like about 1404, was that in the campaign each mission starts from scratch.
Meaning that even if the mission your starting is a followup to a previous one, you start with the same island setllement, same map (sort off), the setllement will not be the one you build in the previous one.
It's one they programed to start for with that mission (really anoying cause you have to find everything).
In the Anno 2070 demo it looks like you start a mission with at least the stuff you build in the last mission, if on the same map at least.
Another negative point I haven't found a solution for is that you settled area is shown as yellow on the map, if you settle an orient island its really hard to spot which one from the minimap.

If a pilot is remote repairing, or otherwise assisting, another pilot who commits a criminal act then the repair module will now disengage. In order to continue repairs the module will need to be restarted and a message will appear warning of the criminal flag and possible consequences.

Slowly legal pageviews are superceding malicious ones
Looking at the statistics of this blog I'm happy to say that pageviews coming from decent/valid/legal sites is slowly overtaking those from malicious ones.
Last week I posted that I thought my blog was being visited by members of the DRF, the DRF is a recently formed Russian based political power block
in the MMO EvE Online.
Since most pageviews came from inside Russia, this was a fair assumption.
But over the past few days I learned more about using blog statistics and found out these pageviews were more spam/scam attempts on my blog.
I'm now happy to say that the non-Russian pageviews are on the rise, thanks to me advertising my blog at certain sites that relate to some of the topics already spoken here.

Ok, a larger introduction to Misfile, a webcomic by Chris Hazelton. One of my favourite webomics.
Misfile is based in a universe where all actions of nature are controlled by a paper file system.
The explanation as given in the comic, on how the system works.
Given that the systems works, on a pre-computer pre-database (pre-modern age) model, mistakes can be made. Normally mistakes or Misfiles are corrected.
Off course in this case the angel who made the Misfile was banished from heaven before he could correct it.
Next time, principal character introduction

Today is a sad day for the Euro, France and Germany are discussing kicking out nations from the Eurozone, in order to save the currency.
In a fact what went wrong is that there was a single currency over a diverse range of nations,but no monitoring to see if all those nations were 'reliable stable' within the zone. For instance it was known that Greece forged its books to get in and they kept forging them.
In Italy we basically had 1 man who ran the country, by both being the political figurehead and the prime owner of the companies that do the work for the government.
A smaller Eurozone should contain the countries that can sustain it now and give the nations that currently can't a chance to recover before rejoining.

EOData: Converting it to a datawarehouse
My boss had a nice assignment today, I got to practice datawarehousing.
In order to do this I got to create a datawarehouse base on my EOData database, however since EOData is already pretty conform to the structure of a datawarehouse:
*A datawarehouse receives bulks of information (Check)
*A datawarehouse has few updates (Check)
*A datawarehouse is around 90% read of data and 10% write (Sort of)
OK, so I can use it as datawarehouse, but that not the bad part, in order to to this I'll have to start renaming my tables to convene with naming standards, so first I got to rename a half-a-dozen tables. Then change any stored procedures,views,functions and packets that work on those.
Not looking forward to that.

Internal strugle between the diffrent police districts is one of the main reasons the investigation to the gang went completly off the rails.

In a last effort to stop this, an appeal has been made to have their acts be made 'crimes against humanity',so that the search can go on until after 2012.

Tier 3 Batllecruisers: Capital class killers or the rise of the new suicide ganker
In the next expansion for EvE Online, winter 2011, we are getting new batllecruisers.
The Amarr Oracle, the Caldari Naga,the Gallente Tallos and the Minmatar Tornado.
First off is that all these are based from or directly taken from the top 10 from the 'Create a starship' competition that ran a while back. And besides the Oracle, they were designed as battleships. But what role will these new ships play, well from what we know about the super capital and capital nerf upcoming it would be safe to say that they are meant to engage capitals and super capitals. It will take longer for them to be targeted then battleships although they probably die faster.
Off course were there price to drop to that of the 'classic' battlecruiser, they could effectivly replace battleships as the main Freighter suicide ganker, and begin a whole new level of piracy, that could really hurt the EvE economy.
A solution to this would be like suggested on the evenews24 site to invalid insurance if concord or any NPC police is the one who destroyed the ship. That or give concord the ability to pod kill within the first 15 minutes of the aggression.

The Amarr Oracle, the Caldari Naga,the Gallente Tallos and the Minmatar Tornado.

EOData: Backstabbing
Since my boss has been more at the office I've been getting more assignments and less time to implement my EOData database.
Yesterday I reached the goal I had set out in EvE for this year, hurray.
Unfortunatly since I no longer can count on absolute certaintity that I'll be able to get all of my ore sold well, I have to get a buffer.
All and well, I set in a new goal in the database and suddenly all the data involving my daily activity is spitting out strange numbers, especially the estimated isk made since the last logged day.

The wife of one of my boss's will go into labor in the coming week(s), as an effect my boss has at the office every day. Since its closer to his home, this has also meant that I have to work as long as him, in order to keep a good impression.

EvE Online, Closing the door on the past and opening a new door
A few posts ago I wrote I had been set red by the FTC, this was followed up with insults being thrown at me and from me back to them, the result was a very sour relationship that would probably never recover.
So as of yesterday I closed the last chats that where would still meet FTC members, with the chance of me returning to the FTC being lower then 0, I have decided that once I complete my current goal I would start looking at new ventures in EvE, with as little to no relationship to any past dealings in the game.

EOData: Ore per system
In my database EOData, I'm about to introduce the concept of oreclass's.
Each system belongs to an ore class, named security class in CCP database,this determines what types of ore are available in the belts. That way I should be able to look up all the systems with a specific ore,number of belts,ect... One of the things I will add is location, with code B for Belt and StS for Static Site(a while back CCP introduced a bunch of landmark sites that respawn completely every 24 hours, some of these contain ore, which isn't reported in the securityclass of a system).
This feature is called securityclass in CCP database because it presumably started out as setting to determine a system security, NPC pirate population and ore types.
It's strange that CCP didn't rename this when they switched over from Oracle to SQL Server

TinTin: The Secret of the Unicorn
A good 3 weeks after its release in Belgium (worldpremiere),612.000 people have watched TinTin.
The 3D, motioncapture movie about the Belgium comic book hero Tin Tin created by Hérge, the movie itself was directed by Steven Spielberg (Jurrasic Parc, ET,...) and Peter Jackson (LoTR).
The story is based on 3 albums:
*The crab with the golden claws
*The Secret of the Unicorn
*The treasure of Red Rackham
The movie took element out of these 3 to form one story, that while completly diffrent from the Hérge works, is set in the same timeframe. The main reason they did it this way was to introduce an audiance to the characters, instead of auto ausiming that Cpt. Haddock and Tin Tin were friends since the beginning.
The movie honours the style of the comics and the time period it was set in, early 1940's.(Even Hérge makes a cameo in the film).
The movie is a great introduction to the universe of Tin Tin for those who don't know it, and one should definitely go and see it.It will be out around Christmas in the USA, after the movie it would be best to get an album or 2 from this great series.

Webcomic: Misfile
For over 2 years I've been following Misfile, a webcomic created by Chris Hazelton, set in the year 2004-2005 in the USA state of Massachusets. It has a manga style,running mon-fri, a donation of minimum 10 dollars will get you a pin.

Belgium T-Minus 10 years for Greek scenario
A few moment ago the PS (Parti Socialiste), the largest political party in the upcoming Belgium federal government has announced that they will not approve any of the budget cuts proposed by Europe.
Meaning literally that in order to meet the EU budget rules taxes will have to go up. This is something what the majority of the Flemish population doesn't want, with no Flemish majority in the upcoming goverment (due to forced exit NVA and release of the Green parties), little to nothing will be done to stop the first Walloon PM in 30-40 years to rise taxes to 60-70% of the income.
The argument of the PS is, that they are not willing to make the budget cuts that could endanger the social security of the citizens now or in the future.

This morning when I looked at my pageviews over the weekend, I saw that several came from Russia.
It could be that some members of the DRF stumbled on my blog, but more likely it is some scam site hosted on a Russian server to try and trick me in getting some stuff.

R.I.P. Sabena (10th aniversary)
After 9/11 alot of airtravel companies went bust, this included the parade horse of the industry SABENA.
Well Sabena was not really a parade horse, but it was the oldest airline company around at the time.
Behind the demise of Sabena there's a lot of stories and rumours, to be true I think nobody really knows what went wrong with the company.
You could say the song started to die when the EU enforced the free market and state owned companies had to go, like so many state owned companies in Belgium Sabena was privatised in a political way. Meaning the CEO and head staff were still appointed by the government, and usually were people with the right connections and not necessary the right qualifications. The company was still paid by the government for its services by the government, but this was now called subsidies and the workforce were guaranteed certain rights and privileges normally given to state employees.
So on paper it was a private company, in reality the state still ran it.
In the mid 1990's Sabena ventured up with Swiss Air, and then everything went down the hill. Sabena passenger had to fly with Swiss Air planes (and Sabena had to pay, making loss on those flights), the catering had to be from Swiss Air, even the bagage handeling at Brussels International, Sabena's main hub, had to be from Swiss Air.
A long story short is that Swiss Air took everything of Sabena , leaving a husk of a company, that despite the best efforts could not survive the blow of 9/11.
Swiss Air went bust a few years later, a trial was going on to get Swiss Air to pay back the damages it did,while Swiss Air committed what they did with Sabena , they were acquitted from wrongdoings. Closing the last hope many people had in saving the airline.
Now a days Brussels Airlines tries to relive the glory of its predecessor, but its song might also end soon.

Anno 2070 demo (too short for great game)
Yesterday, the demo for Anno 2070 came out.
The demo features 2 missions of the Global Trust campaign, the nice thing is the follow up save of the map.
Meaning that the next level retains the end result of the previous map,which is handy.
In this case you need to build a base and help build a dam on the main island, at the end the dam fails flooding the main island.
The second mision involves rescuing and relocating the survivors on your island, one of the objectives will be to have at least 25 houses.
Knowing this you can build 25 houses in the first mission and don't have to bother that in second mission.
Ok now comes the too short bit, the 2 missions are fairly simple, even with the secondary quests, you'll be able to finish the demo in less then 30 minutes.

Being set red by old time friends
About 5 weeks ago my then corp, Freedom-Technologies (FTC), decided to leave the Sev3rance alliance and join one of the DRF 'pets'. (The DRF is a coallition of Russian alliances, who recently brought down one of the biggest and oldest political superstructures in EvE). I disagreed with this move cause it felt like acting on the rumour that the region we were living in would heat up. (It still hasn't). I announced I would leave and offered anyone who didn't agree to join me,none joined me then but some still might. It would off course take several days for I could leave the FTC and join an alternative corp. This is what is called a cooldown, I could have left the FTC before the left Sev, but I wanted to give this new alliance a chance to impress me. It didn't, the noob-factor and the almost continuous spam in the alliance channel made my decision to leave final. It was even more reinforced when marching orders were given, splitting the corp up in 3, PVP,EVP and industrialists. While the EVP'er ans industrialists went to good regions, they would be completely dependant on alliances that easily could turn against them. I discussed this on the Sev forum, since the FTC doesn't have one anymore, and a few days later the FTC was attacked by EE, an ally of Sev in their new home.
Immediately fingers were pointed at me, I was called a traitor and banned from the FTC public channel. And this week they set me red, me who had been a friend of them for over 5 years.
What about proof against me, yes I did post on the Sev forum, but more in an effort to diffuse the situation, I still had long term dealing with Sev that I just couldn't abort because the corp whimped out. I did not get blue status with Sev as some would argue, I also learned that every corp of every alliance in the region we were at were offered the same deal, so everybody could have known.
Point is, that with me being set red I no longer see a possibility of me returning to the FTC and hence its time for a 'rebirth' for me, I'll always be an industrialist but this will give me the opportunity to do something else for a change.

Introduction EOData
EOData is a database I've been sort of developing over the past year (sort off, as its preveiou incarnatiuon EveOOreData existed for the first 8 months off this year).
The concept behind this database was to keep track of the ore I mined in EvE Online, know its value in ISK (Interstellar Kredits, the ingame money), where exactly what is located ect...
There's plenty of tools that already do all this stuff, but none that really showed me exactly what I wanted to know.
The database is centered around an items table that contains all the items in the game, an inventory table has records for all my stuff (Assets) in game, a price table that containt the median price of every valid item in game.
And a set of history tables to give me a historical overview of how the markets and my inventory evolved.
The data gets in the database via 2 SSIS (SQL Server Integration Packages) packages.
The first one loads in an inventory.csv file (Coma Separated File), the second goes through every xml page on the Eve Markets website, to get the price off the items (A process that takes over 1 hour to perform).
I've done this all since I run my mining in EvE like a real business with a quota

This is my first blog post in years and hopefully this blog should be more active then my last attempt at this.
First an introduction to myself, I'm a 28 year old DBA(database administrator), big star trek and train fan, playing a lot of strategy games and off course the MMO EvE Online. I hail from Flanders in Northern-Belgium.
In this blog I will be discussing my views and opinions about the politics in Belgium, developments in EvE Online and other games and the now and then random blog post that's sure to follow.
